Food Safety Best Practices For The Holidays
Cooking a large holiday meal may involve many different food items and ingredients. It's important to keep food safety in mind when preparing such a large meal.
Utilize the 4 steps to ensure that harmful bacteria won't be part of the meal
Clean - Start with clean hands and make sure surfaces and utensils stay clean.
Separate - Use separate cutting boards for meat and for vegetables.
Cook - Cook to proper temperature by checking with a meat thermometer.
Chill - Store leftovers within 2 hours of finishing your meal. Store in refrigerator at 40 degrees and consume leftovers within 3-4 days.
